Roof Repair at the Monastery of St. John the Monagrit

The Monastery of St. John the Monagrit in Monagri was damaged during the fires in the summer of 2025. €19,262 is needed for the roof repair of the skete.

In the summer of 2025, during the fires, the land around the Monastery of St. John the Monagrit in Monagri burned on all four sides. The fire spread to the roof of the skete and caused serious damage: part of the wooden structures was destroyed, and the roofing material became unusable. Fortunately, the fire was extinguished. The temple itself miraculously survived, despite the wooden ceilings and wooden decor inside, but the roof of the building needs repair. To ensure safety and preserve the monastery buildings, restoration work must be carried out as soon as possible. According to the contractor's estimate, the cost of the work is as follows: 1. Roofing materials - thick wooden beams; - cross wooden beams; - reinforcing boards; - insulating materials (polystyrene and roofing felt); - tiles. Cost of materials: €14,562 2. Preparatory and restoration work: - cleanup of the area from fire damage; - dismantling and replacement of burnt beams; - installation of scaffolding. Cost of work: €4,700 Total amount needed: €19,262 Payment for the work can be made directly to the contractor. To arrange for the transfer from an individual or legal entity, please write to the project coordinator, Maria Rapoport.
